Batang Baybayin
Batang Baybayin—Child of Baybayin in English—reimagines what Filipino snacks, known as chichirya in Tagalog, would look like if their packaging were written in the pre-colonial writing system of Baybayin. For my thesis project, I redesign five of my favourite snacks growing up in the Philippines.
What is Baybayin?
Baybayin is a pre-colonial form of script writing used by Filipinos. It was widely used up until the 16th to 17th century when the Philippines was colonized by Spain, imposing the Latin alphabet.
